Today our 1995 Saturn SL reached 200,000 miles. We bought the Saturn
new around May 1995. I don't have any pictures from when we bought it.
I wasn't in the picture taking mode back then. The interesting coincidence about today is that 8 years ago when the Saturn reached 100,000 miles is that Heather was in the car that day too. We both worked at Mercury Computer Systems in Chelmsford, MA. Heather was a co-op in the Technical Communications department as a summer job. She was also learning how to drive a stick shift and it was a scary time. Well, 8 years later, Heather is working full time where I work, at Technical Communications Corporation in Concord, MA. She and I snuck out of work around 2:30 PM and went for a drive to finish the needed 4 miles to roll the odometer over to 200,000 miles. We were at 54 Hillside Ave in Concord, MA when the even occurred. Pictures 7499 thru 7502 were taken in front of our home in Nashua. Pictures 7513 thru 7515 were on Hillside Ave where the 200,000 mile mark was reached. The camera used in 2001 was a 300K pixel webcam. The resolution was quite poor and the odometer digits really aren't readable. This time around a 7.1M pixel camera was used for the still shots. The video clips are all 320x240 with sound. The Saturn is on its last legs I fear. It did pass inspection last week, but needed a new muffler and exhaust pipes. It doesn't get driven much. It eats oil, which fouls the spark plugs. They need to get changed every 3000 miles or so when the car starts to shudder a lot. |
